I read on a armoror's website that the chicom rifles are totally unreliable, and must be sent to them for a rework, bringing the cost to well over that of a springfield. what are your thoughts on this matter?

There may have been some of the earlier chicom M1A's that had problems, but the later ones - M14/S for example - are aboout as good as the Springfield or any other. If they are so bad why do guys advertise for the receivers to build up a rifle???
Very rarely do you see someone on any of these boards saying that they personaly had this or that major problem with the chicom rifles - it's always "I heard". Also much of the disinformation out there is by someone who makes his living by reworking these supposedly inferior rifle and charging the price of the rifle for his work.
I have a Norinco M14/S and 2 Norinco M14 rifles. Haven't shot the 14/S much but have shot one of the M14s a lot, mostly in 2 - 5 rd bursts and I've not had any problem at all!!!
