Hi all, i just joined the evil mini 14 club by purchasing a ss rancher a few weeks ago. i could use a little help from you all. i just got to take my new mini to the range last weekend and it shot very nice with no misfeeds or stove pipes. But there does seem to be a problem with the spent shells, this little boogers wipping the spent shells out at mach 5 and sending them ( i kid you not)a good 20 to 25 feet away! is this normal for a mini 14?or should i send it back? I only took 60 rounds to the range with me and two people went home bleeding from flying shells, tore up one guys nose pretty good. i felt bad and put the rifle away and took out the old 95/34 bolt action,, no chance of me knocking a guy out with that. any ideas on what to do with this thing? thanks

joey---Welcome aboard! It sounds to me like everything is normal with your Mini. It's because of this violent ejection you'll never see a "Stovepipe" in a Mini. Mike Knifong sells a gas bushing kit that'll help with this violent ejection & still keep your Mini reliable. It's a good practice when at the range to try to get the far right bench when shooting any semi auto weapon. Just go to the top of the page & click on the search button & enter Mikes name or gas bushing & you'll get plenty of information on the subject.

Good luck

Welcome to the forum joeybagadonuts, and congrats on your new pruchase. The bushwack has it. The bushings will help ya a bunch. The 3 bushings are smaller than the factory so allows less gas to operate the slide rod/bolt therefore recoil is way less. You may want to do a search as bushwack suguested on: Bushings, Recoil buffer, Muzzle brake, Bedding, Trigger. Your keywords will show up in red.
