Hi Gentlemen.
I just found you guys and glad I did. I've had my first Mini since '92 and just got the wife a 196-Ranch. I've read alot of the forum and still reading. I put one of Lee Hadaway's ext. magazine releases on before I ever knew they changed the factory length. I like them, have an old Fed. Ord release on the pre-ban. What's up with that, I wonder?
I got a spare firing pin from GPC back in the '90s but have not needed it yet. Is anyone making good replacement firing pins? I know the deal about sending it in. If there is an answer here I probably just haven't got there yet. Please bear with me.
Glad to find you and hope to post some photos.

Welcome to the forum Mengo. I have heard of the old Fed. ord. mag releases, but they were bought out by PMI. http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/showthr...ederal+ordnance

The only place I know besides Ruger that sells firing pins for the mini is http://www.e-gunparts.com/model.asp?idDept=218. A couple of members have posted they bought some, and they soon broke. However I'm not shure if they broke, because of a inferior product, or the members did't fit the pin to the bolt. Ruger says it is a fitted part, and won't sell you one unless you send in your bolt. If I ever do this, I will probably opt. for a spare bolt assy.

Hi,
Something that doesn't make sense to me on the FP issue is... if fitting the FP is needed, then Ruger's tolerence control must be sorta loose? You would think since Ruger mass produces, use CAD/CAM etc. fine fitting wouldn't be a huge issue. Just sort of odd, huh?

I'm not shure why Ruger wants to fine fit the pins. Maybe our resident armorer R6721 can answer this one if he's still around.

How about it R6721, can you tell us whats involved?
