You got a great deal... assuming the barrel is not shot out.

Doesn't appear to be as pretty accurate. Bright bore...

You did pretty well as the Choate front sight/flash hider and the Accustrut combined are probably about a $200 upgrade - meaning you got a Mini-14 for about $400.

Should feel the "need to exceed", consider a Tech-Sight upgrade, but if the existing rear sight works for you, then don't fix something that is not broken.

A VERY sweet buy! Congrats!. Just don't try and make it a sniper rifle! It is a Carbine (a very fine carbine).

That Tech Sight upgrade is in the mail now!!! Original was just a bit too small for these old eyes! The slotted wood handguard is backordered. No sniper rifle, just a good field and truck gun to dispatch a few ornery varmints and some evil cans and clays!!

Sweet. Good luck with it.

I had a stainless, wood stock 181 20 years ago. Traded it toward something else but often wish I had kept it. Simple, reliable, light. 😉

I really like those mid to late 1980's straight cut buttocks, with just a plastic pad. The only made them for a few years on the Ranch Only mini's. I've only had one mini with that stock come my way. When that mini went away, the stock stayed with me.
