Im a mini fan. It was my first center fire rifle purchase...Back in 1985... It's a Ranch rifle... Series???? I would have to go look it up. Yeah Im lazy today... I would love to get a new blued tactical in synthetic stock. How is the overall accuracy of the new barrel design. My old mini would hold decent groups till the barrel heated up. 10 or more so rounds. It was and is a ( fun rifle. ). It has never quit on me and never never a malfunction in several thousand rounds... It has ate ammo that stopped my AR's cold .... I love AR'salso... M14 is my true love.... Got some AK's to keep the collection honest.
Back to the question.... Is the new barrel a 2-3 moa shooter... Even after the barrel heats up ?????? I realise there is always going to be a MOA shooter out of a lot of rifle . Also the same lot will have 6-8 MOA rifles.. Whats seems to be the average .... Thanks WarDawg.... First post..lol.

the new mini's are very accurate me and my brother both shoot out at 100 yards hitting beer bottles easy and also water filled water bottles...and thats with the gun getting hot and we live out in the desert where the temperatures right now get to be easy at 105 and humid and 120 and dry....the gun got hot but no accuracy issues and also i out shot a keltech 223 against my friend...we set up some blue and red dye filled bags out at 80 yards and im talking little sandwich bags hanging from a pvc pipe

I have the new thicker barrel mini in the ATI folder stock and can say that it seems really consistent, still not an MOA shooter but reliable groups even when it warms up.

Mine, 2 months old, will hold 2 to 3 MOA with mixed powder charges as long as I use the same bullet weight. 1.5 MOA or better with most of the powder charges I have used to date and .75 when using Hornady 53 Gr. JHPM bullets and 25.5 Gr. of Accurate 2230. I think it can do better and am working in that direction.

I did use masking tape layers to tighten the receiver to stock fit and have just installed a tight fitting laminated stock with results to be determined.

I haven't experienced the stringing with hot barrel that the old ones are noted for. In the aerly stages using Federal 55 Gr. FMJ's I had my buddy fire a 5 shot group from the bench then hand it to me for a 30 round high speed blast followed by another 5 shot group. The groups were within 2 MOA.

Yep, 2 or 3 moa (or better) seems to be the norm for the 580 series mini.

I added a strut and had a trigger job done and it shoots 1.5-2.5'' groups and around 3 after the barrel heats up. The strut is priceless in my opinion.

I have had my new Mini for a couple months now, and as far as I can tell its accurate even when the barrels hot. I can reliably shoot 2-3 inch groups at 100 yards even when the barrels hurts to touch. That being said I have shot my best groups from a cold barrel, my best was slightly under an inch at 100 yards(using a 3-9 scope set on 9x)

The Mini is really just a "fun gun" for me, as long as its minute of beer can/4x4 steel plate/ect at 50 yards with iron sights I'm happy.

I'm just under 2 moa on my 581 with a nice variety of ammo.

My 581 ranch got me 3-4 MOA at 100 yards as a very new shooter with remington PMC ammo. A strut cut that down to 1.5-3 MOA. I no longer have it scoped, but I really should try to test it again now that I'm a bit more experienced with shooting.

Honestly though, I just love it as a sweet little rifle that can hit center mass at 200 or a head shots at 100 with iron sights firing quickly from just about any position on my paper bad guys.

GDK - Although you aren't looking for absolute accuracy, I will say that doing a simple glasbed job IAW Gundoc's video tightened my rifle up noticeably.

my 580 shoots real close to 2MOA consistantly (with strut). i think 2-4 MOA is average for a new mini.

CONSISTANT MOA minis are rare birds (or maybe target models).

My 580 Tactical shoots so well I robbed the bedded stock and tuned trigger group out of my 196 Ranch and made it shoot better. I have shot 10 shot groups over and over to heat it up and have no stringing issues. It is more accurate than I am so I can't make any MOA claims. There have been too many Q.C. problems posted here to ignore so if you go this way, shop carefully and be prepared to deal with Ruger if your luck is bad.

If I can get one that is a true 2-3 moa surplus ammo ( Irons ), Id be tickeld to death. I own /owned and shot them all.... A standard tactical rifle 2-3 MOA is a good rifle.IMO WD

Ive seen 10 X as many 1 MOA rifles on the internet, than ever at the range. Seriously....

Crap. How am I going to explain my 580 series shooting 1.25'' groups? Or the fact it will shoot 2'' groups after the barrel is heated up by firing 40rds. as fast as I could?

This is a skinny barreled mini with a strut, gas block retorqe, trigger job, and recoil buffers. Just a plain ole mini. To be honest, fixing the gas block was huge. Something ruger should have done right in the first place. I also think the tapered barrel mini's are better than mine. It doesnt take much to get mini's running better.

1.5 to 2 inch groups at 100m with my 580 using Barnaul 62g SP, haven't put any "good" ammo through it yet
No strut yet and not sure if I need one
