I'm a new member and a new mini 14 owner. I can see that there is a lot of good information at this site. Fellow members may be interested in the latest issue of Guns&Weapons for Law Enforcement(Jan,2003). There is a good article on DRC'S custom tactical mini 14. The scout scope base plus the eotech reflex sight (pictured in magazine) looks like an awesome combo.

If you're interested in a no-gunsmithing low profile drop-in Picatinny rail for the MINI-14, check out the Ultimak website. I called the manufacturer of this item and recommended that he develop a MINI-14 front sight to mount on this rail. You can currently get rail mounted AR-15 front sights, but they are too high for the MINI-14.

I picked up this mag. today just for this article. It sounds to me like you could order this from DRC as a complete gun. I was planning on buying a new gun and sending it to him but maybe I won't have to. Maybe I can get that shiped to a local FFL. Does anyone know for sure about this? I wish that he cruised our forums and could answer directly. It is still a few months away for me, but if no one finds anything out before Jan. or Feb. I will be glad to post what I know, as I will be calling him. I just hate to call and ask a million questions before I have the cash to get anything done. Cool article and it looks and apparently functions great!
