Howdy and welcome to the forum!

You can use hi-cap mags with any model year of 10/22 - the problem is the COST!

I think I paid 40 bucks a piece for 25 round Butler Creek Hot Lips mags on http://www.gunbroker.com

Try to find the Butler Creek Steel Lip version, they will probably hold up better in the long run, or the Condor with steel feed lips.

Try http://www.rugermags.com/ for the best prices I've seen.

Hey wahturi. The last Hi-cap mag was made prior to the Sept 13, 1994 ban. You can still find them new in the factory wrapper, but like Beta_MO said they are expensive. I have 2 Ramline 50 rd mags I bought in 1986 for $12, now are $85 to $149 each. If you can find a 25 rd Buttler creek Steel lip, it would be the best Hi-cap, but they run about $50 -$65.

You will not find a more reliable mag than the ruger 10 rd. Unlike the other plastic mags you can dissamble to clean, and adjust the rotory spring. They go for $9 to $12, just about everywhere. I have seen clips which connect 2 or even 4 mags together, like jungle clip, just rotate each 10 rds. I carry 50 rds in 5 mags, in HKS speed loader pouches on my belt.

The big thing about the plastic lip mags is the mag has an ejector, and feed cam, which becomes worn, and jams will occur. Check out this thread: http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=ejector

oh ok, thanks guys. i thought that the post ban 1022's would not accept old high caps. i thought the new rifles were like a rotary typle magazine, and the pre ban guns accepted straight mags. good to hear. ill be getting a 1022 very soon!

I've got ButlerCreek 25's and Eagle 30's (which are slightly better) and stopped using them. They work pretty good, but they're plastic and do wear. The Ruger 10 rounders are more reliable, steel , cheaper, and still let me go prone, or get my left arm under the rifle for proper rested support.

For the price of a plastic high cap nowadays you can get a pile of Ruger mags.

I like the speedloader pouch idea!

Sorry to hear about your sore thumb "problem" with your 50 round mags.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who could "help" you solve this problem by taking those nasty old mags off your hands!!

I've recently seen some high capacity magazines for sale on e-bay. I thought about buying one, but the seller is in Canada. Does anyone know if I can legally import one of these from Canada. I figured I'd ask before getting myself in trouble.

No you sure can't. If you were ever to be caught with it it would be confiscated and you could be in a bit of trouble. For what i've seen those post ban mags selling for it wouldn't be worth it to me to save maybe $5 a mag.

When I got my hot lips high cap it came from Canada. When I recieved it I opend the packaging to reveal a computer game box that looked like it was in the origional packaging but never opend. I emailed the guy and he responded by saying the mag was inside of the box. <_< i didnt know how this could be because it looked brand new factory wraped. But I opened it up and what do ya know? Nice new hotlips inside :p So yea its probably illegal but I doubt you will get caught.

If the mags are preban it would be legal if your state dosen't prohibit it. Calif is a no no.

Post ban hicaps no.

Gents be careful! Do not post illegal acts in this forum! It is being watched!

Cheaperthandirt.com has a 25 rounder for 50.00. It looks like it has steel lips. By the way it reads I think they are ruger factory?
