WOW! Another reason why females shouldn't be law enforcement officers. Save this one for the "When cops attack" video series. Excellent clip!!!
Well, on the physical aspect of law enforcement, I agree. Most women are at a disadvantage which could cost them their lives. This incident in the clip though, I think, could have happened to anyone. I watched it about 2 dozen times on a loop and from what I can see, her finger should not have been on the trigger. Given the fact that here hulking partner was pretty much in control of the situation (until he almost gets shot himself).

She should have held a down ready position, finger on the frame of the trigger. It looks like when she tried to holster the weapon, pulling back, the trigger went. Scary stuff.

Not funny but reminds me of the time when one of our female officers killed a wooden chair in the Chief's office.

Not a pretty site.

Fact is, I think there is still a piece of her fanny laying on the floor in that same office. (This took place after the Chief talked to her.)

Hmmm. I might be missing something. From what I saw, the gun was pointed in the direction of the cop and the suspect when the gun fired. AFTER she discharged a round, THEN she tried to reholster her weapon. Poor girl. She's probably going to get sued by the suspect for undue stress or even worse, battery.

I think it falls more on poor training for police than her gender. Guns aren't called "equalizers" just for fun. My grandmother shot a running dog through the eye at a range of about 25 meters with a .22 pistol becuase it was chasing her favorite rooster. She was in her late 50s at the time. In her early 60s she told an unwanted visiter that if he touched the porch stairs he was a dead man. He left. The difference is my grandfather insisted she learn to shoot and handle firearms. This woman probably never handled a firearm until academy. Not only did she have an unintended discharge, she missed.

Most police only handle their weapons when they qualify annually or semi-anually.

We had rotating security guards were I work when we had a restraining order against a former employee. He's in jail now, and the company dropped the guards, but I talked to most of them. With only one exception, all would admit that they practiced rarely or "only to qualify."

Puts the lie to the gun control advocates about cops being highly trained experts with their firearms, doesn't it? Those who choose to take the responsibility of carrying a firearm typically practice more often, resulting in the results seen in the statistics showing civilians have fewer accidental shootings and kill more criminals than police.
