I am sorry to bother you all with this but I just saw this post I made last febuary. The dog you see in the above picture name is Zeke. Zeke was fatally struck by a car last friday night. Zeke was the worlds best dog. I posted this pic after i got him back from my ex, I had not seen him for two years. Zeke was 6 years old at the time of his death. Zeke made everyone around him happy, and even people who did nnot like digs loved him. Zeke had always been a city dog, after getting him back he lived in the country with my father. He loved being there. He had fourty acres to play on. I would go there on my days off and take him for walks in the woods and my father took him for rides in the back of his truck, which he loved. He made the transition to country dog remarkably. Our house sits about one quarter mile off a 2 lane country highway. Zeke knew not to go down there and never did. Till last friday evening. I have no idea what he was doing, but I know it was quick and this very special dog did not suffer. When Zeke thought you were less than happy with him he would curl the corners of his mouth up, it looked like a smile. When I picture him in my mind I would imagine he is making that face because of how sad and lonely I will be without him. Zeke, you was and still are the worlds greatest dog and friend. You will always be in the hearts of all that knew you. We love you and will miss you.

Its really hard when you lose a best friend. I lost mine last May and still cry when I think of her. She had been with me for 18 years. I feel your heartache and wish the very best for you.

DO NOT CRY BECAUSE ITS OVER _ SMILE BECAUSE IT HAPPENED

Read this below. Its long - but helped me!

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who have been ill or old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing-they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body starts to quiver. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart. Then together you and your special pet cross the Rainbow Bridge. -Author Unknown

Thickmojo,

I am sorry to hear about your dog. That is very tough indeed. I used to work for a vet clinic and saw this kind of stuff on a daily basis and it is always tragic. Recently I had to give up my dog. That happened nearly a year ago and I still miss her. Attached is a picture.

Take care,

AR I am sorry for your loss also.

There was a story told by a vet that I thought was pretty neat:
Dr. Allen was called to put down a family dog. He was a family friend and taken care of the dog for many years. The dog had been a member of this family for over 10 years. Old age crept up on the dog and he no long was able to walk and function. When Dr. Allen arrived - the family told him that they wanted their 4 years old - to watch - and to understand that there was life and death. Dr. Allen got his shot together and gave the dog the injection. The dog simply went to sleep. The 4 year old took the proceeding in stride. When the family was sitting around they spoke of how bad it was to loss a dog and how short an animal’s life was compared to a human. Dr. Allen said that the statement that came out of the 4 year old simply amazed him. The 4 years old said "I know why dogs have such a short life". She then said "It because they know how to love when they are born - so they do not have to stay so long".

You think kids don't know? ;)

Yeah, dogs really do bring a lot of happiness into one's life no matter how mad you sometimes are at them for peeing on the carpet just to get attention!

Here's a good piece of literature from my collection that makes you think....

If you can start the day without caffeine...
If you can get going without pep pills...
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains...
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles...
If you can eat the same food everyday & be grateful for it...
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time...
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through
no fault of yours, something goes wrong...
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment...
If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him...
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend...
If you can face the world without lies and deceit...
If you can conquer tension without medical help...
If you can relax without liquor...
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs...
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice
against creed, color, religion or politics...

...then, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog.
