Here's a fairly good pic of my favorite mini14 in my collection of 6 factory folders. This is the one I shoot most of the time. I had a friend dye the stock black,it really sets off the bright stainless finish.
The red dot is a Tasco ProPoint 5, it has 4dot sizes and 11 brightness settings. It sits VERY stabilly on a B-square mount. Never formally checked for a group size, but at 30yds I can run holes up and down a steel t-post (1 1/2" wide) about as fast as I can pull the trigger! That little trick never fails to convince my friends of it's accuracy!!
Question for you. How would your red dot do on a scout style mount? I have a scout mount that replaces the upper gas block, but have not picked a red dot yet.
Thanks
I have 3-GB factory folders,2 stainless,1 blued,1-mini30 factory folder, the one pictured and 1-spare stainless folding stock.....5 rifles and 6 stocks!! I'm not crazy about the scout setup,I just don't think they feel very stable. But if I were doing another one I'd put a Bushnell holosight,c-more,ATN or some other "holographic"type sight. You know what I mean? they are open and and I think target aquisition would be alot better than with a "closed" type scope.
