Great advice! But if you had to grab your bed side gun for something that went bump in the night or if you carried a truck gun, what would it be?Rifle, basic load. Ammo goes quick. WATER. Basic blow out kit. And a rally point to meet with team members. You should be part of a 3-4 man team, at least. At least 2 of that team should have 30 cal rifles. As in 7.62x51, or .30-'06. Make sure you have a solid zero on your rifle, and know the click value of your sights/scope. Bino's, and some camo netting. Think of storing supplies outside your house, in an undisclosed location. 20k rounds wont mean anything once your castle has been invaded. And don't bury it. There is technology now that will disclose disturbed soil from a mile away.

Bedside rifle is 20" AR, with collapsible SOPMOD stock. Kept hot, like fallujah hot. Mag in, round chambered, selector on safe.(no kids around). 420 rnds in mags, in saw pouches, nearby. 450 total.Great advice! But if you had to grab your bed side gun for something that went bump in the night or if you carried a truck gun, what would it be?
 Yes sir, those are my tactical house shoes. You wouldn't believe how many possums I have had to pop going through my garbage while in my flip flops :lol:I would never thought to toss a pair of house loafers in my go bag
Absolutely. All rifles, except bench queens, must have a sling. If you need to go hands free on your primary weapon to climb, give first aid or go to your back up pistol, a patrol mounted sling on your primary rifle is a great addition. I am running a Viking Tactics sling & stock adapter with magpul paraclips for quick disconnect.
Years ago, I fired 447 rounds during a 19 hour running firefight. All semi, aimed fire. Selector never went to burst. 450 is my minimum basic load for 5.56. A little less for 7.62. A little. My wife and I maintain 100 loaded mags for our AR's. We don't carry that much, but it's there, and spread among several locations. My kit (basic load) is 630 rnds. Two saw pouches w/ 7 mags ea., Harris vest w/ 6 mags, and 1 in the rifle. She carries 210 rnds. We figure that will get us to rally point. If I have Garand, it's 480 rnds, 60 en-bloc's.Nice. Need 200rds minimum for a go situation. Id carry about 400
Sheepdogs think " I will not let my brothers down, ever."Good suggestions here. First aid kit with minimum field dressing & tourniquet, Camelback & more ammo on my to do list.
There are two general reactions to violence: The sheep think, "Thank God I was not there: I would have died." The sheep dogs think, "If I had been there, I could have done something to stop it."

Dang! I need to get more mags! I'm good for that, except I have two Minis. Guess I'll need to double-up!Years ago, I fired 447 rounds during a 19 hour running firefight. All semi, aimed fire. Ammo goes really fast. And chances are, you won't be re-supplied.
That is another way to look at it. Bugging out at times may be the best option. I was thinking of this as a, for example Hurricane Katrina, little or no rule of law. What is a quick grab kit to defend the homestead/family. Hopefully the little rule of law that may remain will not think gun confiscation an option, as in Katrina. The car keys.
If you want me to get all kitted up, it's going to take more than five minutes.
