[Boilermaker]

I bought a new mini ranch today and after I got it home noticed very fine machined thread-like rings on the exterior of the barrel.
They are 4 1/4" back from the muzzle and there's about 5 of them (1/16"). Are these present on all new mini's or is it a manufacturing defect? I haven't shot the rifle yet so exchanging it won't be a problem.

As a new user to this board I'd like to say that I appreciate the information and opinions you all have posted. Before I bought this rifle I read everything here and as a result I knew the pros and cons of what I was getting. This one's for you!:beer:

over the last 20 years, i have owned 3 mini-14's, they all had those machine marks on the barrel. i suppose its a normal thing for them, any i have ever looked at had them, blued or stainless.....just shoot it and have fun....gut
