I'am looking to buy a mini 30. The ammo is much less than 223 but how well does wolf ammo group out of a bone stock mini 30? Any problems with the varnish coating on the wolf ammo? How easy is it to clean the entire rifle after shooting corrosive ammo? I dont want to buy a 30 and be disapointed.

The ruger mini 30 my choice also. On ammo I have used wolf ammo its ok but I found a few years ago russian 7.62x39mm 124 gr. hollowpoint comes in a blueand white box marked state unitary enterprise made in russia better made a case here at the gun store down the road is 79.99 per case of 1,000 rds. I like it much better on acurracy and no powder smell as with wolf. Much cleaner ammo, less residue. My Mini-Thirty eats Wolf ammo as well as any other. No, the varnish has not to this day caused any problems for me. Roughly 1000-1200 rounds of Wolf through it. Clean every other time at the range. "How easy is it to clean the entire rifle after shooting corrosive ammo?"? Simple - don't shoot corrosive ammo. The Wolf is not corrosive. Cleaning in general is exactly the same process as with a Mini-14.

Groupings on my -Thirty are about 2-2.25" at 100yds with a Black Warrior Double-Muzzle Brake and a glass-bedding job done by me. I think they started out at 4" groupings. Great gun. Never a jam, except with lousy after-market hi-cap mags. Ruger 5-round mags - never a single problem.

The main thing to consider is buying hi-cap magazines. The hi-caps for Mini-14 are easier to locate, and GOOD Mini-14 mags are hard to find. Ruger Brand hi-caps for Mini-14 are EXPENSIVE.

Ruger Brand mags for the -Thirty only go up to 5-round! Aftermarket GOOD hi-caps for the -Thirty are harder to find than for the Mini-14. Four-Four mags is your best shop for 10-rounder -Thirty mags.

Hi SATAN 2655 , I really have not found a 7.62x39mm round the mini 30 did not like same for the mini 14 ranch. I just found the other ammo when the gun store changed brands here guess not to many people use this round, then I found out that there is a big market for the 7.62 x39mm the owner of the gun store told me he sold more mini 30s in the last 5 years and that every year he sold more than before he gave one to his son for working the gun shows . If you are shooting Wolf - then 7.62x39 is only $10 cheaper per 1000 rounds. Everything that is said about mini-30 high-caps is true. If there are still good one's left you won't find them on Gunbroker.com (a great website though). I've learned the somewhat-expensive way. I resided to the fact that my 30 will be a great 10-rounder anyway you look at it (Pro-mag). For 5.56mm I turn to my Daewoo or Colt.

Buy em' all - you can never have enough. Better than buying gold - really.

Singleside those are Uly hp's you have got. Try them on plastic jugs of water, they fragment completely everytime and blow the jugs up real good, at least at close range. I read of a test where they shot Uly hp's out of a AR with 7.62x39 upper and got about 1 inch groups.
I get an occasional dud when shooting Wolf 7.62x39, but also get some duds when shooting their 9 mm.

single - I too have found those rounds you talk about and agree they seem to shoot more true than wolf however my problem was I experience more mis-fires with them. the wolfs have not failed me yet in that regard. I have to say though, that if you can live with the $8-10 per box/20 price, PMC rounds have been absolutely the best I ever shot. worth a try if you find them sometime.
