is a mini 30 overkill for coyote's, large desert rabbits (i forget if they are cottontails or jackrabits, but the desert rabbits get HUGE in the mojave desert) and other varmints? ive got a decent .22 to take care of rats and squirrels and anything else of similar size?
also, is the 30 truly adecquete to get an ethical kill an a deer? because if its not, i might just go with the 14. also, which has the more power?

I have taken a couple deer with the 7.62, it is adequate within reasonable Ranges (125 yds.) I always try the double lung broadside shot. Think it would be fine for yotes

For deer I'd druther shoot a mini-30, for varmint (Coyote, jack rabits) a mini-14 as its longer range. I don't believe a 30 is over kill on a coyote. Ya can't kill a yote too dead. Most people shoot em, and leave em. I used to skin em, and sell the pelts. Its been a sevral years since I've done this though. Don't know what they are worth now. ya need to get them in closer on a 30. As far as accuracy, from what I've read here is they shoot about the same out of the box, and both can be tuned to shoot pretty decent for not much money.
