So working on a pre 580 series.
With rear sight adjusted all the way up, rifle still shoots more than 2ft. Low at 100yds.
Can someone here measure their sight from top of barrel to top of sight for me?
I know just file the front down, but I would like to see what the sight heigth is on a rifle that is correct from the factory.

Are you using a Tech rear ? If so, the old single blade fat front sight will be too tall.
When I first put a Tech rear on an older Mini-30, to be zeroed the Tech's aperture was so far up it was wobbly and barely threaded in.

I had to shorten the blade sight on my daughter's Mini-30 (189 series) and while I was at it, I thinned the width too.

I'd see if you can find a .625" take off winged sight from ASI or someone, and upgrade to that.
If you can't find one, take an 1/8" off the single blade sight (and thin the top of that fat sucker while you are at it).

Factory sights.
I just wanted to see what others sight height was before modding.

With a factory rear sight, you shouldn't have to do anything to your front.
2 feet low at 100 yards sounds like you have other issues. Does your barrel look bent ?

Does not look bent.
I am considering sending it to Ruger, or ordering a new 580 take off form ASI.
Just the barrel, I will install it myself.
