I am planning to buy either a mini 14 or 30. What are some things to consider in this decision? Which would you recommend. It seems like I can get 7.62 ammo cheaper, which is a plus, and its got more knock down, so I could hunt with it. I don't plan to put a scope, so I'm hesitant to get the 30, since the folding sight seems crappy.
Any advice will be appreciated.

If you are going to use it for deer hunting go for the 30 since you cant use 223 for deer hunting in Va. At least legally.
