Hello everyone. Well, I finally picked up my wife's new Mini. It's a Stainless Ranch Rifle with really nice wood. I'm wondering, has anyone ever sanded it down and polished the wood to bring out the best? It looks like it could really look sweet if a little work would be done to it. Has anyone ever done that? What should I use?

On my Mini-14 SSRR, I stripped the finish off but when I restained it, it didn't come out as good as I had hoped. Right now I have a Choate stock on, But will be playing with the wood to try and strip it again. Once I finish it to my liking I'll post some pic's.

Here is a link for staining, finishing, and refinishing a gun stock, you might find useful. I've had good luck with True-Oil by Birchwood/Casey. Available at Walmart, in the sporting goods dept. http://riflestocks.tripod.com/
