Nylon webbing strap going around rear of stock with a "stirrup" for the butt plate would accomplish the same goal with no damage to the wooden stocks. Use OEM sling stud for support of strap. Suggest "cam-lock" buckle to secure strap that goes around the rifle's stock.

Locate Tri-Glide buckle or simple loop for rear sling attachment point and sew it in position.

Cheap and can be hand-sewn if no sewing machine available.

Ive done that before on other guns and it works. Not worried about the stock
