My favorite slings are the following Outdoor Connection, Inc. slings (in order of preference):

• The Super-Sling 2+
• The Original Padded Super-Sling
• The Original Super-Sling

Right now, Walmart is selling the Super-Sling 2+ under the Winchester brand name. It's going for $17, and there are different colors to choose from. In fact, I bought a Real-Woods style yesterday.

The best part about these slings is their ease of adjustment. The thumb hole loop makes it possible to adjust the sling in a matter of seconds. And, shortening it for storage is a breeze.

NOTE: If you want to use the quick detachable sling mounts with the factory Mini gas block, you will have to modify the gas block slightly. I've done this "mod" and love it. I think it's well worth the effort. Here's a link that explains the process:

If this "mod" is not up your alley, you could simply use the 1" sling and route the nylon strap through the factory sling swivels.

In fact, I've done this (with the 1 1/4" sling) on both my M1A and my father's M1 Garand. The sling functions just as well as it does with the QD swivels.

I'm in the process of putting these Outdoor Connection slings on most all my rifles. The features, plus the price can't be beat.
