What is a good mount/rings/scope set up for a ranch model?
this is a new rifle and i used the in the box ruger mounts with a old weaver 4 power and have a difficult time getting a spot weld on the stock and seeing clearly the whole field of view.

i am 6 foot 3 and was wondering how a pistol scope with a lot of eye relief would work and what height rings to use as well as a type of mounting base.

My choice for the Mini 14,30, and ar15 in scopes was the same for each Bushnells banner 1.5x4.5x32mm which gives me the veiw that I need. You have limited reach, however you want a clear and wide angle of veiw also you want it to fit the ruger rings tight. All for about $75.00 . Singleside out. It does sound like you have an eye relief issue.

It's kind of hard to help without being there.

The Mini-14 has kind of a short stock. You probably have too little length of pull and are getting too close to your scope.

I bought one of those buttpad/stock extenders from www.brownells.com and it makes the length of pull longer by an inch or so.

Try backing up on the stock a bit and see if an inch helps your scope problem.

Most pistol scopes are designed to work at an arms length or so.

I put a Masen recoil pad on my rr and it helped my weld. I also put on a Bushnel Trophy Mil dot and I really like it.

Not only fits the ranch but the old 44 caliber autoloader and the 10/22. Probably others as well.

Looks funny but functional.

The recoil pad from John Masen fits the ranch and adds an inch to the length of pull.

It's probably the same pad. I've seen half a dozen brand names on some of the same mini-14 gear.

I think I have a Choate pad.

The Brownell's pad fits my ranch rifle stock. These ads are written by humans. They are not perfect. They do make mistakes in their desciptions.

Welcome to the forum SFCEB, Dennis has some good advice, adjust the eye relief by sliding the scope forward, or back, and adding the extra stock butt pad should help.

The thing about putting a pistol scope on a rifle, is the parallax on a pistol scope is 25 to 50 yds. For a centerfire rifle you need 100 yds, or better.
