Hi everyone, this board is great. I have long looked for info on the mini series of rifles and ran into dead end after dead end. Just want to express some gratitude for the forum right off the bat.

Here's my question:

I recently ordered and received a trigger and buffer spring kit from Trapper Gun inc, it came with a recoil spring, trigger spring and sear spring. One of these is a small spring (I'm assuming the sear spring?) and I have no idea what this is supposed to replace on my standard Mini 14 as I have had the action of the trigger assembly completely apart for cleanup purposes and saw nothing like this in the assembly.

If anyone could point me toward a schematic of the trigger assembly for this I would be much abliged. I searched this site and also ran a search through Google but didn't find a thing. Maybe something other than schematic?

It is for later ranches but other than rear sight and ejector I don't know what other differences there are between ranch and std.

Welcome to the forum Bosifus. I have 5 springs in my trigger group. The smallest is the secondary sear spring, which would be item #42 on the brownells schem. You can order an owners manual from Ruger for free. Call (603)-865-2442. While you have them on the phone, give them your serial number, and ask about date of manuf, and barrel twist rate.

Thanks for the link dvdstdg, looks like the little spring in the package is the secondary sear spring in mine too.

I've owned this Mini about 5 years now and when I bought it (used) the first thing I did was check Ruger's web site. They at the time had a serial number manufacture date page that showed mine made in 86. It's been tapped for a scope mountbut overall in pretty decent shape. The sn starts with 183.

I've always liked the action of the mini as it has been one of the most dependable rifles I have owned. The lacking accuracy has always just been one of those things I've lived with. Since finding this site (a link from a thread on TFL) I've been pretty excited about tinkering with her to see if I can squeeze some better groups out of her. I'm hoping to bed it and possibly shorten the barrel if that doesn't get it into resonable limits consistency wise.

I really want to pick up one of those Ultimak scope rails for it. Kinda spendy though.
