how bout it...

you take a mini, chop it down to AC556k length.

and put it in a custom pistol grip stock

Or maybe a Tapco with the buttstock tube removed, and the sling ring plug installed..

if you can make an AR into a pistol, and the AK into a pistol why not a mini?
would it fly?

:eek:Don't think so!After finding out about the hoops to make an ar pistol-I would bet that the alphabet gang would have a field day with a "chopped mini"!First and foremost the reciever would have started out as a rifle or carbine......then go from there!

didn't think of it that way...

so you considered a chop mod of a rifle configured upper into a pistol and it was more trouble than it was worth?

wow - I'd not have guessed considering all the aftermarket AR pistol parts on the market that practically scream "build me!!!"

I can't have a AR/AK/Mini pistol anyway...

Hawaii classifies such horrid devices as "assault pistols" due to the forearms -

Just musing :)

;)Hey Snuff-the Ar pistol is an easy build simply because you can find parts that were"dedicated" for use in an ar pistol-but if they were designed or used in a rifle (manufactured)then it gets to be a problem with the people that brought us fast and furious relations with mexico!

You can do anything under the sun as long as it's not your gun, right?
I am sure you would need an oversized bushing for the gas block pending length of barrel.

Its all about what the receiver started out its life as. If it started out as a rifle its takes bunches of hoops and money to do it legal. If it started out as a bare receiver and never had a rifle stock on it its doable.

I believe stripped AR receivers are sold as AOW's (any other weapons) not as a rifle as are pistol grip only shotguns (not the combo shotguns the come assembled with a shoulder stock and with the pistol grip in the package). You also have to be 21 to buy any AOW. If its never been a rifle you can make it a pistol or rifle.

Since Ruger does not sell just the receiver I don't think its easily doable.

Stripped AR lowers are sold just like any other firearm on a 4473. But, at that time must be transfered as either a pistol or a rifle.
A PG equiped shotty is also transfered the same as any other shotty as long as the barrel is >18". Any shorter barrel is AOW

I mis spoke in my previous post, a pistol-grip shotgun that never had a shoulder stock is regulated simply as a firearm, not as a shotgun. FFL's may not transfer them to buyers who are 18-20 year olds.

You are also correct, at the time of purchase the stripped receiver is transfered as a pistol or rifle, I don't know why i was thinking AOW. Thanks for the correction.
