Hey people,
I am new to this forum, I plan to buy a stainless mini-14 (non ranch) very soon, and a standard blued mini-30. I just have one question, can a brand new mini-14 or mini-30 accept 20 or 30 round pre-ban magazines? Thanks for any info.:usa:

Welcome. This is great place if you plan to buy or have a Mini14. The magazine releases on many of the newer rifles are a little bit shorter than they need to be, this allows the magazine to sit a little too low in the well and can create malfunctions, it's easy to fix by replacing it with a longer one or getting an extended release.
Magazines sometimes need to be 'tweaked' abit in the locking block area, usually by needle filing a tiny bit of metal off the bottom until it locks up smooth and snug. These are not major issues, just part of owning a great little rifle and personalizing it and it's gear. I wouldn't start modifying any mags til you check the release first.

Welcome to the forum ArielNYC. Dependable 10 rds, Pro-Mag, or John Manson, For 20-30 rd mags I've had good luck with PMI's. A few have posted some problems, but they work in my 1 yr old mini. The 40 rd mags have some problems, they are too long, and heavy for me. The other cheaper mags are a hit and miss. Some members have had good luck swaping out the followers, and springs, sometimes tweeking the feed lips.

For more info, Click on search button (upper right), and enter key words, many related posts will come up. Also visit our magazine gallery sticky, to I'd unnamed mags.
