Can somebody help me in understanding how to disassemble the Mini-14? I did not receive a manual with mine, and would appreciate any info. It sure doesn't field strip as nicely as my SKS, but I can't imagine it being too difficult.

Are there any websites that feature this info, or would any of you be able to fax some info to me, or can it be explained easily?

Thanks!!

Try this. Take out the magazine. Check to make sure it is not loaded! Cycle the action. Put the safety on. Pop the trigger guard open with a punch or something. Slide out the trigger group and lift out the receiver from the stock. Now call (603) 865-2442 and Ruger will send you a manual free. I could keep writing but it's best to get the manual. Or Mike M. will e-mail you some or all of the pages.

Huffler, One small detail that will drive you nuts if you are not aware of it is getting the bolt back in.

The little flat plate on the side of the receiver has the bolt hold open plunger and cam behind it That stuff must be removed to get the bolt back in the receiver. It doesn't have to be removed to get the bolt out, but you will play hell getting it back together unless you know that it has to come out for reassembly.

Huffler, you don't need to remove the side plate and the bolt lock and plunger to reinstall the bolt. The easiest way is to use your finger to guide the tail of the firing pin back though the web of the weapon (the web is the piece of metal with the notch in it that supports the reciever). Once the tail is in the notch it is a piece of cake to put the bolt back in. Good Luck R6721
