Good post. I agree.

One of my Mini-14 Ranch Rifles is a pretty one: the Davidson Deluxe w/ Circassian walnut stock.

The other is what you might call 'semi-tacti-cool': Choate folding stock, Harbar strut, Surefire flashlight, Ultimak rail w/ Aimpoint CompM4.

I wouldn't want to get shot with either one.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'll never understand why members of the mini community feel the need to fight amongst themselves.

On a side note, in the next couple of years I"m going to try to make an ambidextrous op rod. I'm going to take choate handguards and cut out a recess on the left side. Would anyone be interested?

This is a forum to discuss these things. People state their feelings and opinions on these products (especially ones that haven't even come out yet). You can not control it, and like some others said it is in our nature to bicker over these things. I don't care what other people do with their rifles, but I will comment on the appearance of them. At the same time I think it is good that people try to make their rifles unique. Nobody wants a cookie cutter rifle. You told me that I should not care what anyone does with their stuff, and I am telling you not to care what others think. I am glad to see you have learned nothing from all of this....

.... They see all the 3-gun guys with AR's, and not Mini's...

...
who is to blame?
The mini's are NOT suitable for high-round-count matches. Say, if we assume the firing pin can last 3000rd, for match shooting including practice, that is about one year, which means the shooter will send his match gun back to Ruger every year? And you can not do PM by replacing the pin before it actually breaks.

For the AR, a pin replacement involves a $20 part and 10 minutes of time.

Fixed it, and I argee!!

Apples & Oranges :)

Bcavin your query into why people have different opinions and why they choose to express them is a pointless one. I agree with C Montague that people get very sensitive about their choices or purchases, and defend them to the bitter end. PS3 vs Xbox is good example. For some reason people can't own both, it has to be one or the other. And if you own one you have to trash or dislike the other. Honestly you should be proud of your choices and not care what others think. You only give people more fuel to throw on the fire when you get bent out of shape, also you sound like a crybaby.

I didn't realize I came across as bent out of shape. Or a crybaby for that matter. Its not that I care what others think about the thing I have bought or plan to buy, I want to know why other mini owners almost always come into a forum about something they don't like and start bashing others for liking it. I understand that everyone has different opinions and they are entitled to express them, but just because I can poop in the middle of a room, doesn't mean I should.

I don't think you did. I feel you just stated that you didn't want this post to turn into something other than constructive. You made a good point and I agree let people do what they want with there weapons and if you have something constructive to say then say it. I feel this community is hear to give our advise to others on our experiences and our opinions not to bash others. I have seen things get out of control a couple times on these forums with people getting bent out of shape and to be honest it is very discouraging especially to a new Mini owner. If someone is hear just to bash Mini's or to force there will on others I think they should Pi$$ off.

Ok. Spring cleaning is in full swing at my house. When I get some spare time I'll see about drawing up a concept and posting it

I agree with you Killian and I personally don't like it when Ruger bashers come in only to rain on our parade here (I admit I am new but I am now a part too). Some people had a bad experience or simply don't like Ruger products and take their anger out here, where they will inflict damage. I am an Amazon junkie and I admit that I hate it when someone gives something 1 star in a review because they had a problem with shipping, or because the product was marked down after they bought it. I read the reviews to gain insight into a possible purchase, not to hear about some guys damaged product because of poor shipping. So I agree with you Bcavin too to an extent. But I read those reviews because I am interested in someone's opinion of the product. It is up to me to filter out the people who know what they are talking about vs. the spiteful folk.

I am sorry Bcavin, I applaud your attempt to clean up the forum. I am a noob so I had to put things in context so I could better understand how you feel. At first I thought it would be easy to ignore, but if it is something that happens on a regular basis then it would get frustrating. If I was around longer maybe I would have a different view on such, or people hijacking threads. Cqbink so what are you some kind of psychiatrist or something? You seem to have it all figured out.....

Exactly, and I do agree that it is very annoying and frustrating to sift through those reviews because they are littered with exactly that!! It takes more time to get the info that you need. I am a strong believer in researching things before I buy them, and good reviews/experiences offer great insight into a product. Similar to how this forum did help me decide on a Mini 14, and it is great to see it has such a dedicated following!! I can see how those useless reviews can mirror what happens on this forum and I sympathize. I guess if the same people keep beating the same drum it can get tiring. I was simply easy for me to say "ignore it" because I really have yet to deal with it directly. Excuse my ignorance, I was not looking to stir anything up...
