Will the mini 14 and 30 cycle correctly if they are fired from waist level or do they need to be held tighly against the shoulder?

I don't know, try it. Just make sure you have it aimed at a good backstop! I'd should would work fine since these guns are gas operated and not recoil operated.

I've tried it with my 30 - no cycling problems whatsoever. also, no accuracy or control. not much fun past the brief enjoyment of making a big racket and doing the Rambo/Audie Murphy routine, but worth getting out of my system. have fun.

Some blow-back designs. You need to push a slide/bolt back relative to the receiver in order to extract a spent case and compress the spring that will push from the magasine and chamber the next round. But pushing the slide back also pushes the receiver/gun back through the action spring.

Now if you whole gun is moving back, rather than just the bolt, it may not compress the spring all the way. You get similar effect if you install a too tight spring in Mini.

Gas-operated guns are betetr in that respect since gas pressue pushes the slide and receiver appart.

The Remington model 7400 will not cycle correctly if it is not fired from the shoulder.

That is good to hear. I am considering buying a mini 30. Please tell me more about your firearm. Have you tried Pro Mag 10 round magazines? Have you tried Wolf ammo in it? Have you ever reloaded using .308 dia bullets instead of .310?

Yes, I have a laser sight installed in my navel. It has a single pin connector cable going to the firearm. I can maintain 1" groups at 300 yards. Just joking.
