This is my 1976 180 series Mini-14 "Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty" and my pride and joy rifle. Rode hard but never put up wet. Walnut stock and fairly worn bluing. Recenty I added an Accu-Strut and Mo-Reaper and had the barrel cut and crowned to 16 1/4". Trigger is stock and crisp and about 5 lbs. I also added a Wilson Combat buffer to the operating rod guide.
I bedded the stock reinforcement and forend channel and end cap. This is a very light carbine and a perfect SHTF truck gun. I think the modifications I made to this old as hell Mini-14 have brought it back to viability with modern Mini-14's. I even have two extra fitted Ruger firing pins and one extra extractor and plunger and spring. Got the extras way back in the early 80's and haven't needed them yet. The Mo-Reaper is a must and it really does keep the muzzle down. I added a glow dot to the tip of the AK sight and the sight picture is much improved. The Wilson Combat buffer helps kick the ejected rounds out to the front and about 10' forward to the right a few degrees. This rifle is the most fun rifle to shoot I have ever owned or fired. I have found that cutting the pencil thin barrel down and adding a strut and Mo-Reaper has solved all the old complaints about the early Mini-14's. See photos. I sighted it in at 25 yards at an indoor range with Fiochi 50 grain ballistic tip. Very happy with two rounds touching at 25 yards. Next is to get to an outdoor range and dial it in for 100 yard Zombie chaos. Bring in on!
