I use HI Tech electronics cleaner followed by EEZOX to remove powder residue works great.

I will have to try some of that. My 1892 in matt stainless has a few stains from shooting it so much.

Theres been a few times I have used my dremel, and a copper wire wheel. I matted my S&W 686 a few years ago, and this method does not mar the finish, and can take care of stubborn carbon that ends up on the end of the cylinder. Otherwise, I just used stainless cleaner and a soft rag.
