I recently bought a used Marlin 1894 in 38/357 (the gun was made in 1983).
I tried 2 different types of 38 specials in it (both jacketed soft points over the required minimum length). Upon closing the lever, there were several instances of the bullet running into the edge of the breach and not going in. If I pulled down a little on the lever, and then back up, it usually worked.
I sent the gun into Marlin to get this problem fixed. After about $60, I have it back. The gun still jams the same way, but much less often.
It's better, but still where I'd like it to be.
Is this common? What can be done to fix it?

Thanks
