I've recently become interested in the 45-70 caliber. While shopping around I noticed that marlin offers the model 1895 in 45-70 in a few different barrell lengths. The rate of twist for all is 1:20.
I am wondering what if any difference in accuracy I should expect say between a 18.5'' barrell and a 22'' barrell....... Is the 18.5'' with this twist rate a long enough barrell to stabilize the heavy loads of a 45-70?
