There aren't a lot of options. Depending on who you are going to buy from, you can get a .308 or .30-06. National match or service grade. Wood or laminate stock. I think that's about it.
(SA)Springfield Armory, (WRA)Winchester Repeating Arms, (HRA)Harrington & Richardson Arms, or (IHC)International Harvester. Avoid the later "SA Inc.", and CAI, which have cast receivers.
I got three M-1's one from dcm and two from cmp. I got a H&R that had never been fired (barrel and action). A WW2 Springfield Armory that had been shot a lot. And A very high number Winchester that was about in the middle. The H&R shot the best, and its the one I will keep. I sold the other two and came out ahead. Very fun and accurate guns to shoot.
