Normally I just use a punch to drift the front sight, but the fancy finish on my S&W has me wondering if there is a reliable economic front sight pusher for 1911's. Be interested to hear of your experiences. This is a Trijicon Post on the S&W. Thanks. :)

Thanks Durango, but after reading the reviews on the sight pushers for less than $100; all the users stated that they damaged the Trijicon Sight posts Tritium Tube. Only one out of over twenty reviewers seems to have been able to accomplish the deed without harm to the Tube. Makes me a bit Leary.

No. I mean a drift adjustable front sight Post on a Trijicon night sighted Tritium front sight post. Without adjustment it's 5 inches off at 15 Yards. Verified. Now it needs to be fixed or it becomes a Thousand plus Dollar Hanger (SAFE) Queen. Can I be more direct than that?

JeffF, Most current 1911 slides use the 65 Degree Novak Cut. I have had all of my 1911 slides up dated with the more reliable Novak which originated in the 1970s. The Military stake often fails at 5,000 rounds and does not allow proper rear to front alignment.
As for the sight pusher? I use a soft brass and fiber glass punch. This works just fine.

depending on how tight the dovetail is, a brass punch may only spread its' end and leave a nice brass smear on the sight base.
may work, may not.......worth a try though.

what brand of gun is it Smokey? some are much more brass punch friendly than others.........

That is not likely to happen if you are using the right sight in the correct "Cut". The Novak cut is very expensive to have done. Only few good gun smiths can preform this accurately.
If you do not know the Novak which is used by about all the better companies you may be installing the wrong sight. Brownell's has slides with the Novak Cut for $400 bucks if you are not in love with your slide this is not a bad way to go.
