Old school hi cap and new school competition...both ends of the 1911 spectrum...

First is a C serialed numbered 1911 made in 1948. This was my father's graduation gift when he graduated from St John's Military Academy and was given to me when I matriculated from the same school. Shown with the high cap mag of old, the Taylor Mk II 28 round drum...

New school is my first built, bought a frame in the white and a stainless slide from Caspian, fitted them, added a 38 Super barrel with cone comp (fitted without a lathe, what a pita) and all the other goodies. Frame was done in NP-3 by Robar. Shoots into 1 1/2 inches at 50 yards. I used this one for a number of year in NRA Action Pistol with some success.

Argentine Colt

how many have seen one of these?
i reckon a few have...

the right side of the slide reads:
Ejuercito Argentino.
Colt Cal.45 Mod.1927
in front of this text it has the Argentine crest

the left side reads:
Colt's PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD.CT. U.S.A
the line under that reads all the patents
it has the Colt... Colt with spear in its hoof

by the way, i digitally altered the S# in this photo.....

Very Nice Dr Tarr
i love that older one with the gold bead sights.
a custom Colt is on my list with some gold bead sights, in that royal blue finish
i am going back and forth about ordering a colt over a Novak...
my smithing skills are severely lacking... i am in the "i try" tier

that Caspian looks expensive, what all did you do to it?

My Original Colt

Who's got 'em?
Colt Series 70 Combat Government .45ACP w/ Colt Pachmeyer grips from the factory. I paid $375.00 in '83 for it. I still have it and would not EVER part with it.

Custom 1911 Build Finally Finished

This baby joins my SS Smith full size, and Kimber Ultra Tactical (primary carry pistol).

With my vision and the blood and sweat of Ken from MCF Custom Firearms; we have a master piece. It is a work of art, and I can't wait to shoot it. I am still in Iraq, but will be home in roughly 4 months. Below are some of the specs...

1. Foster (Caspian Parent Company) Recon frame.
2. Caspian Slide serrations front and rear.
3. John Masen Internals and barrel
4. Wilson Combat Skeleton Trigger (Brushed Aluminum Adjustable)
5. SS Extented Slide Release (John Masen)
6. SS Extended Bearvertail (John Masen)
7. SS Recoil rod (one Piece) with SS plug (STI)
8. SS Skeletal Hammer (John Masen)
9. SS Extended Mag Release (John Masen)
10. Extended Mag well with Back Strap checkered open in the front (Ed Brown)
11. Wilson Combat 3 dot no snag
sights night eyes.
12. SS Extended Safety (John Masen)
13. Screws (John Masen)
14. SS National Match Bushing (Wilson Combat)
15. Stipled red wood grips
16. Parkerized
18. NM Bushing
19. Hand fit all internals

The trigger breaks cleanly at 4.7 lbs with no creep....

I think it is a beauty, and supposedly it shoots like a dream and damn accurate. I am looking forward to getting home...and after some nice time with my family...I'll be at the range to test it out. What do you think? Mark

Very nice Thinder. Looks like we are getting some pistolsmiths here that can help the rest of us or at least me when we have issues. Welcome.
