i'm waiting for the day that the CMP starts releasing the 1911a1s stockpiled at Anniston Ordinance Depot......the Anniston CMP store is 1 mile from my workplace.

Knox, ky while in the army in the late 80's there were huge cage's full of 1911's some still new in the w.w.2 plastic wrap. handled a lot of singer & remington rand's that looked close to mint. always wondered what happen to those fine pistols.

my Dad worked small-arms refurb at Anniston Army (now Ordinance) Depot at the end of and just after Vietnam and rebuilt many many A1s

our local Congressman Mike Rogers has introduced a bill allowing the A1s to be released for sale thru the Anniston CMP store.......I don't know if the store in Ohio will participate or not.

My first 1911...Kimber Custom TLE II

I have the same one with checkered wood grip panels. Awesome pistol!!! When the weather is too hot to carry it concealed, I carry my Interarms Walther PPK/S.

The beauty of my state (and many others) is that weather be darned, I can wear this in a quick release ROSS leather hip holster anywhere that doesn't have a "no firearms" symbol on the door.

oddly, or maybe not, 2 years ago when I met my 29 year old Son for the 1st time (long story for another day) we ended up discussing firearms........he's a great Mini-14 fan and we ended up talking about our EDCs....
I almost hit the floor when he pulled out his 1911 and it was the same make as mine, with the same American Legend grip, right down to the rosewood inserts

(at that time I had JUST installed the grips on mine, he'd had his about 6 months)
