I recently inherited a 187 series ruger mini 14. My father in law gave it to me. He also gave me a John masen muzzle break. I know from searching the forum to just tap out the roll pin, slide the break on, and install the longer roll pin. Question: Do I need to disassemble the rifle in any way to keep from damaging it from the vibration of driving out the old pin and driving in the new one? I don't believe so but would rather ask than be sorry later.

Set a board under the barrel to level out and gently tap the pin.
