Has anyone tried JB Bore compound or Bore Bright on yer Mini-14 barrel? It is described as an oil buffered polish/cleaner. The Bore Bright version appears to be slightly more aggressive, but is stated as "non-embedding". Mike In Oregon sez the Mini's bore is rougher than desired and recommends fire lapping. It seems to me that a well broken in barrel might benefit from the less intense treatment of the JB. I bought the fire lapping bullets from Mike, but am going to do that after the bedding, bushing, braking treatment.

I have, until recently, used good ol' Hoppe's and a bore brush. I believe copper fouling was contributing to the downhill slide in accuracy. I learned about Sweet's copper solvent and got alot o' blue from my barrel. With the addition of an Eagle flash hider for ballast, my groups have gone from 3-5 inches down to avg 2 inch groups @ 100 yds(with one 5 shot string a measured .97" --SWEET!) I am anxiously awaiting Mike's video to get started on the bedding project!!!

I bought some JB from a smith I go to who also shoots 1000yd black powder. He told me that the JB isn't so aggressive as to cause problems but I still haven't uses it. So far, all I have needed is copper solvent but then I don't shoot hundreds of rounds at a session either.

Yote, you may want to read this thread: http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/showthr...ight=bore+paste

I firelaped my barrel with mikes kit. used half, of each grit, I used a 22 LR, and a flat jag to slug my barrel so I could feel improvement. The gas block is still a little snug, untill I remove it, as the gas block compresses the bore. The muzzle is tight (desirable for good accuracy). It tightened my average groups by 1/4". It also dosen't foul a bad as before.

Don't forget to reload the fine grit first, and course grit last, and Protect the crown when cleaning!
