purchased a springfield M1 loaded...how do you adjust the iron sites? do i set the sites @ 200meters and place the target at 25meters?

I set my target at 100 yards and zero'd it in, fired till I hit bulls eye consistantly. I am not sure how other folks set zero.

To zero rifle for windage on windless day center windage knob by turning windage knob until index lines are centered on the receiver fire 3 shots at 100m/y off bench if shot group is not centered loosen the front sight and move front sight the opposite direction you want the bullet to move, very small amounts. To get elevation zero bottom out elevation by turning elv knob CCW now raise eight to twelve clicks up. shoot group this should put it close at 100yed adjust up or down to get perfectly zeroed on the target,when you got it perfect slowly turn elv knob CCW carefully counting clicks until it is bottomed out again, this is your 100 M zero writ it down establish 200yd zero then loosen both knobs and aline two hundred yard elevation index line. Now your two hundred yard zero is easy as alining the 200 yd index line. easy

Yep, 25 yards should equal 200.

cary-45's right! That's where I got the info I posted earler from Scott Duff's M-14 owners guide it's good reference material, for the RKI. I picked it up from Brownells.. FM
