Well, I wasn't military (should have been, for my own good, but I didn't know squat when I was 17).

My dad was also a Navy medic, 1953-56. According to him, he saved the free world from venereal disease.

Marine Corps. Been in for 19+ years and plan to retire in July. It's been a great ride but it's time to move on.

Talked myself out of joining in 1974 but my dad was a merchant marine on a T2-A1 gasoline tanker in the Atlantic late WWII.
BTW, the merchant mariners still go unrecognised or appreciated by our government.
They deserve so much more.

I was in in USAF 71-72 then discharged with medical reasons(no I wasn't crazy!!!!) Spent some time at Chanute, middle of winter. BOY! that was COLD!!!!!! BTW, my Dad was a weather observer while he was in the AF. He got to chase hurricaines(I happened to be born in Bermuda because of this). After he got out he worked and retired from the US Weather Service.

US Army 1984-1991.

I was going to join the Marines, but they found out I was literate and insisted this talent would be wasted there.

I also applied for the Navy but when they found out I liked women I was denied entrance. This was long before the "don't ask don't tell" policy of today.

Sorry guys......It's the old inter-service rivalry. I can't HELP myself.
