I have two Mini-14s. I have them in case of a SHTF scenario. One primary gun and a backup. They would fill the role of CQB carbine in an urban environment. I have 20 PMI 30 round magazines for each gun. I think this is a bit of overkill. However, good mags are hard to find.

Just out of curiousity, how many magazines do you own for each of your Mini-14s?

I have 2 Mini's also. I have 14 John Masen 30 rounders ,10 (aftermarket but functioning) 30 rounders ,14 40 rounders(aftermarket but functioning) 4 eagle 10 rounders and 2 Promag 10 rounders. If and when the ban sunsets, i'd like to pick up some more hi quality 30's and 40's. In a SHTF snereio My Mini would be used as a backup. My primary gun would be an SAR1.

Their hard to find because you've got em all Dave! .

I have PMIs 2X40, 10X30, 6X20. Masens 8X30, 1X10. Ruger 2X30, 3X20, 2X5. Ramlines 5X30. Eagle 1X30, 1X10. And I'm always searching for more that fits my limited budget for them. Plan to get some more Masen 10s, when I finish outfitting the wife's Ranch Gun.
I keep a US Assault vest loaded with 5 Masen 30s, it holds 6 but I keep one mag pocket loaded with odds and ends. Waterproof matches, Magnesium firestarter, mini-maglite, mini-monocular etc.
The 6th mag is in the gun. A Browning Hi-power with 17rd So. African military mags and mag pouch for it, Cold Steel Recon tanto and few other items on the assembly. I keep a 300rd So. African battle pack with the rig at all times. The idea is to not be loaded down so heavy with do-dads I can't move fast, I pull the canteen cover off the back and I can wear it and drive. I live outside Wash DC, and had friends and family at the Pentagon, all survived Thank God.
Bugging out or standing and fighting depends on what the towel-headed ************* do, but I can grab that rig and be ready to go pretty fast.

I have 6-30 rounders and 10-20 rounders all factory. Also have the factory 5 rounder but use it just to keep dirt out of the action when it's being stored.

I have 5 Ruger 20 round mags, that I paid 19.95 for in 1979. Don't that make you sick?? I should have bought a few hundred, I could retire ....

Yes I had to go through a few USA mags to find some that work. I ordered them from Sportman's Guide and with their great return policy if the mags don't work....back they go. Iv'e had to send about 50% of the USA mags back. Always looking for more hi-cap mags that work.

Man I can't believe how far behind I am! All I have are 2 Ruger 30's and the Ruger 5 rounder that came with the rifle. Of course I've only had the rifle a little less than 6 months now, still I guess I'd better get busy.

I started picking mine up in '89, in ol' duty free NH. 34 20 rounders; 24 are in an 50 cal ammo can-they pack in nice and neat, 4 are on their way back from being plated in Brushed Hard Chrome, 2 are range use, and another 4 are NIB. I only have 8 of the 30 rounders with one of them included in the above plating job. Got a couple of these 10 round Ruger Factory magazines w/the stamped steel baseplate. Four of the 5 rounders for the specialty ammo. When someone in the family gets a Mini 14; Wife, two nephews and my shooting bud-they get a package deal. The deal is two 20's, a 30, a J M charger, a bandoleer and about 50 stripper clips what I basicly paid, about $150. The wife took hers out in trade.

4 - 5 round Ruger

Well, lets just say over 100.

If/when SHTF, the AR's would be my primary weapons.
