I was gonna replace my magazine release with a different one and found this great video by gundoc - Mini 14 magazine release installation by Great West Gunsmithing. I have all the tools needed and some basic skills, but I don't have a "slave pin" as needed in the video and no store in my area has one. I was wondering how hard is it to change out a magazine release without one?

Get a selection of different diameter nails. Lock the appropriate diameter nail down in a vice, and cut to length with a dremel cutoff wheel.

Then you don't have to worry about "no slave pin" ever again. Make 'em as you need 'em.
