I hear about people bedding Mini-14s to improve accuracy. However, it is my understanding that you can not disassemble the rifle.

How do you clean the thing?

After 100 rounds, my mini is filthy. Especially around the gas block. I could not imagine shooting it for 1000 rounds or so without cleaning this area.

Any comments?

Hi Dave,

You can clean just as would with an unbedded stock. You just want to avoid taking it apart often because I think it weakens the bedding after a while.

For me, to take the receiver out of my bedded stock, I have to tap it out with a wooden dowel or the blunt end of a screwdriver.

I clean my bore every time I return from shooting. I only dissamble to clean a couple, three times a year. Course I dissamble my mini every evening, as you guys ask questions, I have to check out or measure something.

Be careful with the solvents as it will soften the bedding. The bedding should last several years before it will need to be redone. The bedding isn't just plastic resin, it is finely ground glass, bonded together with the resin. The glass also keeps the curing resin from significent shrinkage, maintaining a tight fit.

Mine dosen't fit quite as tight as bubba's, but does fit tight.
