I have been looking at the hogue rubber stock for my mini. Is it a good stock, will it help withthe accuracy and will I have to bed it also? What kind of a price should I expect to pay for one. Thanks

It is a good stock but not everyone likes it. The features that some people do like are the same others dislike. It is covered with rubber and has a soft rubber buttplate, so it provides a lot of gripping friction. As such, it is easy to hold on to but may catch on clothes, etc.
I like its general feel but intend to replace soft rubber buttpad with a hard plastic one - Mini-14 does not have that much recoil to need an absorber anyway.

It is also about an inch longer than a factory stock, so if you are medium height or below, you might want to cut it.

People do bed it to achieve better accuracy.

I got one on sale at Midway for $32.59 on sale but usually you would pay around $55 for it.

Apparently one can spray the factory stock with a truckbed liner to achieve a nice to grip coat.

Do a search on this board - you will find plenty of info on Hogue OM stock and on bedding.

Hey reb8600. I had a factory wood stock, and with a little oil on my finger tips, it became very slick. I changed out to a Hogue. It is a fiberglass stock with a bonded pistol grip type rubber. It shot the same as my wood stock till I bedded it. It is very quiet going thru the bush, no clanking sounds. The only down side I can think of is if you live in a dusty, sandy area, it may get dusty easier than a slick stock. I've seen prices range from $42 to $72. It works for me. :D

I didn't have a very high reguard for Ramline untill I heard from some members on their Ramline senthetic stock, which apparently fits very snug, and may not need to be bedded?

Gang,
I'm bedding a Houge stock now. First one I've done and to be quite honest they could've done better with the design. There appears to be a lot of side to side play. ie bedding will be a must do. There also is a lot of flex to the forearm. This is less than ideal in the Mini since the gas block barrel and stock interface is very important. I still come back to what I've said before..... if you building an accurate Mini, use a laminate stock. They are much stiffer.
Talk to ya later,
