I have a mini-30 581 series. Is shooting fine with its orignal stock.I picked up a camo hogue stock for it and when shooting with that stock the groups really opened up.Any suggestions as to why the chang in stocks would cause this?
Yeah, I'm not sure if it's just a molding (casting? whatever) tolerance or what. I've seen some that need quite a bit of force to seat and some, like my target, where there is a ridiculous amount of slop. Anyway, bedding is no big deal and fixes the issue.
Extremely tight like you need to tap it firmly to get it out? That should be fine, if not ideal. Now, I don't know if there is some inherent flex involved with the Hogues that bedding helps cut down, but if it's as tight as factory it's probably not the only cause. Nothing else changed? Check your scope mounts (they never stay tight) and blue Loctite if needed.
