Has anyone had any experience shooting the high velocity, light hollowpoint ammunition in the Colt Government?

I had problems with that combo in a H&K USP45, but haven't tried it in a 1911 pattern pistol.

How fast and how light are you talking about?

I'v shot several hundred rounds of Cor-Bon 165 JHP's out of a Colt Double Eagle, Sig 220, Para-Ord LDA and an old WWII era Govt model. No problems that I could pin on the speed and wieght of the bullet, but the bullet design itself didn't work to well with the mill spec throats of the d.eagle and the colt gov. mdl.

I have my eye on some 117gr stuff from Aquilla(?) I think I saw where it run somewhere around 1500fps.....WOW!!!

Specifically I was thinking of my 185gr +P from Georgia Arms.

It felt REALLY hot (stung my hand on the backstrap) and the slide would cycle and bounce back so hard that it bounced back OUT of battery about 1/3 inch or so. I thought it was due to limp wristing the gun, but it still did it occasionally after that.

Simple fix really. Stopped shooting the +P from Georgia Arms

The Aquila 117gr. is what I was thinking about. If you try it let me know what you think and I will do same. LOL
