Ok ..... now Im finished with the mini, Im looking to get the bolt on bits for the 10/22 :D
Didnt realise there was so many mods out there.... thought it was a pretty sound rifle....

Done the stock, the auto bolt release, radiused the bolt (smooooth!), fitted a buffer, trigger is next.....

So its been a week since I pulled it apart and Im looking thru the online cattledogs and I see these hammer and sears that are supposedly my next job......

Do I fit BOTH or just the hammer? If I just do the hammer wouldnt I have to match it to the sear, and if Im getting that serious why dont I just take it to my smitthy and get him to do the whole job using the bits I got? Or am I the weakest link?
Whats this downy hair growing on my chest, and why do girls look different?

BTW to help with your decision.... the freight alone for the bits from the states will be around US$25 to here !!

You have 2 minutes to lock in your answers......

From what I understand, most guys on here just got a new hammer. I did the hammer and sear by PowerTech, which I got from Cabela's. Price difference is about 20 bucks. I have no idea if one's better than the other. I know I'm happy with mine, but so are the guys that stuck with just replacing the hammer and it sounds like triggerpull is about the same. I had to stone the sear to fit, to allow for the safety to work properly. But this is all relatively easy work and if you don't have 2 left hands, you should be able to do it all yourself, rather then giving your smithy a ton of money to do it for you. Plus it's alot of fun and something to take pride in.

Good luck!!

I just installed a volquartsen hammer kit in both my 10/22's. It makes the trigger pull a smooth 2 1/2#. Easy to drop in. Hammer, springs, shims, and instructions included. I believe I got mine from Midsouth shooter supply for $31.

Hey doonnzl. A Heads Up. Ya may want to save your old springs. Some have kept their old ruger hammer spring B-44 as it may give a harder pin strike resulting in a more consistant POI. I'm going to try it. I have had very good luck with the volquartsen kit so far. But will try the B-44 comparison at 100 yds. when this rain lets up. Either spring will not change the 2 1/2# trigger pull. Ref: http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/showthr...=&threadid=3568

Ended up with On Target Guns, mainly cos the freight was US$1.70 to New Zealand!!!!

Got the VQ hammer........... 10 mins later, just over 1/2 a kilo pull ( a pound?)

After reading about the hammer spring I have left in the original.

Yours came out with a very light pull. Mine feels about 1 lb lighter than my 3 1/2# mini trigger job. Your 1 lb may be a little light for hunting, but great for accurate target shooting.

I hope to make it to the range this weekend to shoot mine. Its been raining alot. The grass/weeds is greening up already. Now I gotta get the mower out.
