I have just purchased a stainless mini 30.

I am having a problem finding high cap magazines that work. I purchased my last 2 at a gun show here in Houston. Crap......crap I say, made by Western. They wont feed the round to be chambered, gets stuck.

So my question is..............is there anyone out there that has a Mini 30 and has found a source for reliable high cap mags?

I am looking for a couple of 20 rounders.

Thanks in advance.

Hey T.L. have you tried different ammo, the reason I ask is because I have trouble with the hollow point crap the russians are sending over.
It seems that the feed ramp catches the point and doesnt allow it to properly chamber a round. When I put spire point or ballistic tip ammo - no problem.

I reload and have found that the nosler 125 grain balistic tip ammo in 308 diameter and 23 grains of IMR 4198 powder is the is best combo for my mini 30. Dont use the .308 bullets in any other 7.62 x 39 weapon they are smaller and will be inaccurate as hell.

The mini 30 is chambered for the .308 and actually swages the .311 diameter bullet down the barrel.:usa:

I have tried the expensive Remington soft tip...................7.62..............and the rather dirt cheap Russian ammo. None feeds correctly to be chambered.........both work fine in the factory 5rd mag. So i came to the conclusion ........MUST BE CRAP MAGS. Just like you the round gets caught and does not want to chamber.

I knew buying the 30 over the 14 would run into slight problems in after market products.............but I NEVER thought I would be limited to 5rd mags.

I need help,.....links to companies...........or even owners willing to sell reliable high cap mags for the 30.

Ivanimal..........do you have a link to this ammo you speak of?

THANKS

You might give these people a try, they are very good to work with, and you can't beat their lifetime warranty:
Fourfourmag.com stands behind all of the products we sell. All rifle and pistol clips/magazines we sell are backed with a lifetime warranty. If at any point they fail to fit, feed, or function in any way please return them for prompt replacement. This warranty is for the life of the original purchaser.
For the mini thirty they have Promag, and Usa 10rds. The 20, 30 rds are western, but with the above warranty. I have to leave a couple of rds out on some of mine, then they work very well on my mini-14. http://fourfourmag.com/

ya cant beat the life time warranty. Maybe I just got some used ragged out Western mags at the gun show.

I have been looking for the Thermold website, I cant find it. Is thermold out of business? Anyone have any experience with Thermold mags?

Thanks

I have 2 10 round thermold mags and they work fine, the ammo I spoke of is something I make myself. That said there are2 compaies that makes great ammo for the mini 30 Cor-bon and Lapua

http://www.ammunitionplus.com/store.asp?Ac...ry=7.62&ID=1921

the link above for cor-bon ammo tells you why I make my own.

I spend 21 bucks for 100 projectiles the rest costs me about 12 bucks using my own brass.

its really not so much the savings as knowing what you have and being confident with it.:usa:
