Can anyone recommend a starting load for the .223REM using a 75gr bullet; preferably using IMR powders? I'm hearing from a lot of mini14 shooters that this gun likes very heavy bullets. My reloading manuals are pretty old and don't show anything for .224" bullets this heavy. THANKS, JOHN N.

I read somewhere the older minis ( pre 1986 or 1988 ) had 10 inch turn in the rifeling, while the newer minis have a faster 9 inch turn to stablize the heaver bullets i.e. 60+ grns. I've just started working up a 63 grain load. Some mini shooters may have a match barrel made with a faster turn than that. Mine is 9 inch turn.
