So far the only mods I've done is the buffertech recoil buffer. Next, on the list is to get trigger job and bushing kit from Mike in Oregon, install weaver rail and red dot scope. Can I get a red dot scope that will fit in the rings that ruger supplied? Any other suggestions? Thanks for your imput guys.:usa:

Hey Ryan. I believe the red dots are a little short to fit into the ruger supplied, base/rings (Ranch). B-Square makes a weaver base that will fit into the Ranch intregal base, so you can mount anything you want. You may have to buy rings, but some red dots come with weaver rings.

I was thinking that maybe the red dot scopes would be a little short. Where can I find one of these B-square mounts? No, I'm not talking about the ultimak, I know that wouldn't work. I want to make a mount like djskit's, and I was wondering what is a good type of tactical light to mount there. Once again, I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money. Thanks for your reply cajun.

I don't have one but it seems to be a good alternative (rather than finding a piece of rail and than a mount)for adding a light to a mini.

Can anyone tell me the name of a few red dot scopes that have a 1" tube. Also the flashhider was on the gun when I got it, but I added the folding stock. Is this illegal? I tried to take off the hider but even after I took the pin out it still won't come off. Any suggestions?
I would'nt stress about the flash hider if I were you,the "flash hider police" have not been seen at all in any part of the US! About the red dot,I personally don't like the 1" size,I perfer 30mm-35mm in size. I think it gives a better field of view,as the 1" just seems narrow to me.

Hank, I don't mean to be nosey, but how come ya taken it off? If it were mine, I'd get a piece of metal that would fit in the slots, a hammer, and a buddy to hold the rifle. Tap the metal piece in the off direction. Unless it was soldered on it should come off. Hopefully your sight won't come off with it. If it does, you will have to make a drift punch out of alum , brass, or even a dowel rod, and drive it out.
Btw, the flashhider alone is not illegal, unless your state law prohibits. The folding stock & protruding pistol grip handle on a post ban is 2 bad things.

I was just going to take it off because I thought it was illegal to have it on with the pistol grip stock. I already tried your idea cajun and it didn't work. Oh well I guess I'll just leave it on for now. When I eventually send it in for a chop job I'll let them deal with it. Also, I assume that ruger makes 30mm rings for the ranch. Wonder where I could pick some up cheap or trade for the ones I've got. I wish that they came with the gun instead of the 1". Can anyone give me the name of some 30mm red dot scopes that would work on the ranch. Thanks for your help.

Did you try heating the flashhider to expand it while at the same time cooling the barrel in ice/poring ice water through it to shrink it?
You can always saw it off at the muzzle - the added weight is helpfull for accuracy. At least it does not hurt. Or you can take a dreme cutting wheel and carefully cut it lengthwise.
