Here we go. Last night the Illinois state legislature wrote into law a gun ban that makes illegal the sale of any semi-auto weapon and anything with a removable magazine.

Senate committee approves bans on assault weapons, large clips - Springfield, IL - The State Journal-Register

It's gonna get ugly folks. The government isn't listening and they do not appear to care what the voters, or at least these voters, think. What would Patrick Henry do?

Jay Keller, executive director of the Illinois Firearms Manufacturer's Association, said some weapons banned by the bill "are pistols or shotguns purchased by the average homeowner or the average hunter." He also said the ban would cause some of the nearly 60 gun manufacturers located in Illinois to move to other states.
They're more than welcome in Oklahoma.
The article states that the proposal was approved by an Illinois Senate Committe, not written into law. There is still hope for people in that state if it gets defeated in the full Senate and/or in the House. Let's cross our fingers for that!

I'm already on it, alerting all my friends back home to get on the phone to their state reps and senators NOW! If you're in Illinois, give 'em an earful.

The two bills (HB815 & HB1236) have been approved by comittee to send the bills to the full senate.

I have done all that a law abiding citizen can do to prevent this. My legislators know where I stand and they stand with me.

On the eve of the court mandating that Illinois pass concealed carry, it is the Chicago Machine that is constantly trying to violate our constitutional rights.

looks like it was basically shot down (read article for explanation)... inaction = not enough support to bother bringing to a real vote...

Democrats pull plug on gun, ammo bans
Not written into law. Maybe it's time to panic, but let's not spread disinformation.

Extremely sloppy reading on my part men. Sorry for the confusion. Definitely not the time to spread misinformation.

No problem. First time I read through the story I made the same mistake, since that's pretty much par for the course in Illinois politics.

Fingers crossed, but if we can win this one, it will bode well for the national struggle. Keep the letters and emails pouring in on the congresscritters at all levels, since complacency is the foundation of defeat.

So whats the Plan?

As a freedom loving American I will stand with my brothers. I belong to a rural Washington State fire dept. as a volunteer. In that small circle of people we have LEO's and retired military. The Leo's have flat out stated their will be no confiscation efforts from our agencies, so that leaves our military, forget them, they ain't gonna do it. National Guard, yeah right! So that leaves the federal "agents". Due to a Federal mandate ironically enough, we had to recently update our fire comms to include fed channels for emergencies, (God I love stupid).
We will not go quietly and we have a plan. You need to make a choice NOW. Either you fight or get in line and hand them over!
You guys should be forming platoons have rally points ect. They do not have the stomach for this, but if we roll over, it's over.
I have written this type of language to all of the law makers, including Barry, letting them know what they are in store for. The time for please mr honorable (fill in the blank), spare my rights, is way over.
Bring it.

Its not over yet!

According to this site, don't break out the booze yet boys. Fights still on, so give 'em an earful over the weekend.

Days of our Trailers: BS IL Gun Bills Down But NOT Out

Drown 'em in email no matter where you're from. Loss on the Illinois front will hurt us nationally.

Considering this is Illinois and Obama claims Chicago to be his mainland home town, I would bet that this was a dry run it up the flag pole situation to see how it would do before trying anything in the federal legislature.
Man the crap going on in Ill is nothing compared to what they are introducing in NY. No semi auto and no grand fathering. Turn them in or confiscation. This is really turning out to be some real ****. I find it all pretty hard to believe, but it is really happening. People better wake up, it is later than you think!

The bad guys figure they have about 4 weeks after a massacre to chip away at our rights. I suspect they figure they have a little bigger window this time due to the scale of the outrage in CT. However, Christmas break will have dropped it a bit. Call it 4-6 weeks max. We're now in week 3 since the atrocity so they figure if they can't roll out their gun/magazine/private xfer ban in another 3 weeks (end of January) it won't happen this time. Thing to watch for most IMHO is a "compromise" wherein the RINO's get to claim that they stood up for us and the best deal they could get was to give in on private xfers or high cap magazines in exchange for leaving the rest of our rights alone.

So hang on, call/write your congressmen and do what you can. Accept no compromise. If we beat 'em in Illinois it may help deflate their sails a bit for the national effort.

Notice how the fearless leader appointed the veep to head up the gun control panel? It fails, its officially his fault they lost. I don't think that the other side is 100% confident. Maybe its just wishful thinking on my part. Whole thing still feels like a nightmare.

I felt like having Joe Biden head this up was putting in the fix for it to fail, LOL.

I think that's about right. Most likely set of new limitations will be a limit on magazines to 10 rounds and new limits on private sales. I suspect they will require private sales to be done through an FFL so a background check can be done. At a nominal fee and tax, of course.

At the end of the day, I think what they really accomplish is a million more AR-15s and other semi-autos in the hands of the American public as they stock up to beat the possible bans.

Absolutely.
Illinois is back in the hot seat. Call or email before Sunday if you want to keep your rights, Illinoisans.
