Hey fellas, new to this forum and theres some pretty interesting info here!
I'm looking to buy my first mini and wasn't to eager to get one with hearing all the inaccuracy problems that seem to be inherent with this particular model. My uncle has one that he sent to me to take a look at and test fire before buying it. I dont think he ever fired it as it was one he picked up in a deal for other rifles, anyway heres what i found
Ruger mini 14 non-ranch
184 series
pretty good condition for ~18 yrs
No mods (as far as i know--looks all original)
crappy scope mounted on a weaver 302 rail(uses rear sight bracket and a yoke on barrel for front support)
55 grain BELL bulk ammo(mil spec case lots on head)
five round groups were 1.25"-2.0" with one flyer making overall maybe 2.5"-3.0"
this mini wasn't even cleaned before we took it out back and it didn't look too clean!
I would prefer a ranch just beacause of the proper scope mounts but i think this would be a good one to hold onto!!
